List of things that will make me feel great

I can’t believe that more than a year has passed since my trip to Thailand. It was great, the trip went well and the stay was wonderful. Now I want to go back! Unfortunately I neither have time or money right now, so I have to wait. But the spring and the sun is on it’s way, so hopefully I can get a vitamin boost here at home.

Speaking about boost. Many newly released slots at the casinos have a fruit theme. You almost feel marinated in fruits after some spin. is great when you want information about new games and interesting casino campaigns. I don’t play casino that often nowadays, but when I feel like it I use to visit freespins365 and check out news about the latest slots and casino bonuses.

One of my favourite slots is Strolling Staxx from NetEnt. I like that the slot is calm, warm and colorful. It doesn’t contain any sharp sounds or stressful music. It’s peace and quiet and that’s exactly what I need now. That’s why I want to go back to Thailand. When I’m away I can relax in a different way than here at home. But I try my best to find peace in the everyday life as well. So I’ve decided to make a list of things that gives me peace, happiness and that keeps me healthy.

I like the idea of a list with things that makes me feel well. But I am afraid such a list also can cause stress and became a checklist with things to do. Instead I want it to be a list where I can look and remind myself about things I like. I know it sounds confused. It’s hard to explain what I mean and how I feel, but I hope you understand a little bit of it.

Anyway, I started to make the list. I haven’t come so far yet, but here’s a first draft:

  • Sun – make the most of sunny days and stay outdoor a lot
  • Sleep much
  • Eat healthy food, vegetables and fruits.
  • Listen to relaxation tapes
  • Talk to family and friends in person, not just online or on telephone
  • Read a book once in a while
  • Buy flowers
  • Have a Yoga pass

Do you have something similar? What do you think about my list? Please comment and give me feed back. I would appreciate it a lot.

I will write soon again.

Pre-travel thoughts

It’s not long until my flight leaves for Thailand now, and I’m sooo excited to go! It feels like i booked the trip an eternity ago, and I just want to get there now. Even though it still feels a bit scary to travel to pretty much the other side of the world all by myself, the nervousity has kind of turned into excitement. Everyone I’ll meet at the resort will be people who share my mindset, so I don’t feel like making new friends will be a problem!

One thing that is a problem, however, is packing. I’ve always been terrible at packing, and bring waay to much things with me every time.. For the three years that I’ve been practising yoga and mindfulness I’ve also been trying to go down a more minimalistic path – but it’s not as easy as I thought it would be. In my mind, I would just get rid of everything I don’t need and life would get easier just like that. I did however realize that I’m terrible at throwing away things because “I might need them someday”, and that I buy way to much stuff. So my plan of becoming a minimalist and not having much to choose from when packing from my trip failed miserably. So here I am, sat on the floor, filling my suitcase with way more shorts than I’ll need.

It’s still about one month left until I leave, but I’ve started packing already. It’s not like I’m going to have any use for my shorts here in the UK anyway.. And I’m getting so excited to leave, looking at pictures from the resort I’ll be staying at pretty much every day. It looks absolutely beautiful, and I’m a bit worrid that I’ll want to stay forever once I get there. The resort is set on the beach, and I’ll be staying at a bungalow just by the water – that’s the dream! Imagine finding inner peace through yoga and meditation at a place like that, where there will be no noise other than the waves coming in on the beach.. Can you tell that I’m excited?

By the way, do you remember how I wrote about my fear of flying in the last post? I though that online casino would be the remedy, but now I’ve found a new favourite entertainment – betting! I’ve always been into sports, football especially, so I don’t know why I haven’t discovered online betting until now? I found a site called that provides an odds comparison and a list for where you can find live streams from different matches. I’ve fallen in love with the excitement, and imagine placing a bet and watching the live stream from the match on the plane? The flight will pass in no time! Like I said, I’m so excited to go…

I’ve booked a yoga getaway!

It’s been a while since I last posted on this blog, but I simply haven’t had time to sit down and write anything. I’ve been trying to make yoga and mindfulness a priority, just to stress down my daily life a bit. I’ve always been a bit of a busy bee, and never used to take time to just relax. That’s probably why I started having problems with both neck- and back pain a few years ago! Sitting in front of a computer for 8+ hours every day, pretty much never excercising and stressing around all day isn’t exactly the best thing you can do for your body..

So getting into yoga a few years ago really made a world of difference for my well-being, it really did. Now I have the ability to just take a few moments and let go of any stress that’s building up, and I really enjoy having those moments of relaxation. Now – I have even decided to take it one step further!

I was talking to a friend of mine about traveling abroad when I got the best idea – why not book a trip to a yoga retreat? Said and done – in november I’ll be going to  a yoga resort in Thailand! I will be there for 10 days, living in a bungalow by the beach. Each day there will be yoga classes, pranayama (which is a type of breathwork for relaxation), meditation and even Thai massages and steam baths!  Of course I am super excited about going, but also a bit nervous. It will be the first time that i’ll travel alone, and it’s a pretty long flight to Thailand. But I’m sure it will be great, and that I will learn a bunch of new things while being there!

I am however a bit scared of flying, and I find it really hard to meditate on a shaky plane. For some reason I’m always sure the plane will crash as soon as there is any turbulence… But I read that the plane will have wi-fi, so hopefully that will be my rescue! Lately, I’ve gotten really into playing online casino – and I find that to be an excellent way to distract myself when I’m feeling nervous. I found an online site called that reviews different casino sites online, and that really helped me find my favourite! So hopefully, spinning some reels online will get me through the long flight to Thailand!

I promise that I’ll update you about my yoga experience in Thailand as soon as I get back!

Why I do yoga

Yoga! This wonderful and easy form of training that has been with me for about three years now! It has helped me through rough times as well as given me more energy to make more healthy life choices. I have lost my health problems, my back and neck pain, and instead got a better posture as well as a whole bunch of new friends!

It was a rainy day in november some years ago, that my friend dragged me to her yoga studio. She had been nagging for a long time and she really wanted me to go. With some resistance I decided to join her, since I was really tired of the nagging. I must say I was not happy about it at first. I had almost no balance, no control over my body and not really any muscles. However, I continued the course for some weeks, and I started to loosen up – both in my body and in my mindset towards the form of exercise. Next thing I know, I’ve signed up for the next semester and another course.

Since then, I have been going to yoga and soon after the second course I started taking my daily walks. I have really noticed a difference from then till now, and I feel a thousand times better now.

The poses and movements I do is actually not that hard. I go on courses with very low difficulty, since I mostly just do it to stay in shape. Sometimes I try a harder level with more focus on certain areas, like more stamina, stretch or more classic yoga. Although, I feel confident in the level I’m on and I like to stay here as a base. My friend climbed up in the levels and before she moved away from town she had tried them all at least once.

But why do I do it? Well, mainly because I feel good and because it’s fun. As I said, I’ve gotten rid of my back and neck problems, as well as built a better posture. I sleep better at night, I have no longer any weird urges in food and I’ve managed to change my diet to a more healthy one. I’ve made a lot of friends and every semester I get some new ones. I go to class two times a week and every morning I do a small yoga routine. It’s basically just a stretch program to wake up my body and get the blood going. This is quite new, I’ve just been doing it for some months now, and I have no plan on changing that.

I think yoga also helps me work with stress, since I get to focus on something else for a while, I focus on myself. That helps a lot, I think.

The many usages of coconut oil

A few years ago, the hype was at its highest about coconut oil. Now it seems like it has faded away a little bit, leaving just a few users left. I’m one of the few that still uses it daily, and have been even since before the hype. I’ve used it for many years for a lot of different things, and I figured I could share some of them with you. I hereby present: my list of when I use and have been using coconut oil! Just remember to use organic coconut oil, since it’s a big difference for your skin. You want it as pure as possible, to make sure it’s healthy. Hope you like it!

Of course I’ve been cooking a lot with it! Now, I use almost exclusively coconut oil when frying. It handles temperature well and it gives no taste, if you use the taste-free one. However, the best and most pure oil has a slight taste and smell to it. When I cook, I use both with and without taste. Usually it’s no worries with a little coconut taste in my food, since I cook with very fresh seasoning and coconut fits right in to that. When I fry fish and meat however, I tend to use the one without scent since I want the food to taste another way.

Body and face

After showering I just love to use coconut oil as a lotion! Especially the one with scent, so I smell like a coconut! Some years ago, I used up my last bottle of lotion and I never bought a new one. I just scoop up some coconut oil, put it in an old jar that had lotion in it before, and use the oil. I have to warm it up before it becomes a liquid though, since it’s not that warm at home. If I put the jar with lid in the shower, it has warmed up just enough when I’m finished. If I want to use it some other time, I can put a small piece in the microwave, and out comes a warm, floating lotion that is wonderful to put on the skin! Sometimes I even put in some essential oils, to give it another aroma.

Speaking of aromas and essential oil, I sometimes use coconut oil as a sort of perfume. I have a wide variety of essential oils at home, and I often mix some up with coconut oil to get a scented lotion. It’s perfect to wear when I want to feel a bit nicer, and I can decide exactly how much scent I want to have. Peppermint, lavender, camomile and lemon is a few of the ones I have, and I especially like a combination of lemon and peppermint. It’s fresh and I can use it basically any day. It also helps soften my skin, which is an extra bonus. Home made perfume is the best perfume!

Tired feet

When out on hikes or travels, my feet tend to get a bit tired and dry. To avoid this, and to treat it when it happens, I get a lot of coconut oil on my feet and sleep with plastic bags on them. It holds the oil and avoids mushing it around in my bed. Sometimes I also use some fresh lemon juice to get rid of odour, and to make it feel a bit fresher. If you like taking a foot bath, I can recommend to have a bit of lemon juice, and some baking soda, as well as coconut oil of course! It feels really nice afterwards!

My morning routine

Hello again dear readers! Today I want to write and tell you about how my mornings are and what I do to prepare for a new day. Perhaps it’s nothing special, but I thought some of you might be interested in reading it. Then, this is for you!

I go to work at right before 8 in the morning, so I usually wake up around 7. I have my alarm set at 6.45, but sometimes I lay down a bit extra to make my body wake up a little more. It’s a nice thing to do, just laying in bed and slowly waving your toes, lifting your legs, moving your head. I like to make sure my body is completely awake before I get up.

Once I climb out of bed, I start making my breakfast. Most often it’s just oatmeal with some berries and almond milk. I also drink a big glass of water as soon as I get up, and sometimes I take a cup of tea with my breakfast. When the oatmeal is cooking in the microwave I do some very simple yoga. I’ve been doing it since a year back and I have no plan on stopping! It gives me energy and my body feels better and I haven’t had any neck or back pain since I started. It’s really basic, just a few easy poses. I can explain it furthermore later when in another post.

After yoga, the oatmeal is ready. A stir and a dash of cinnamon together with some almond milk and more berries, and it’s ready to serve! It’s a great way to start my day, with some warm and tasty food. If I don’t drink any tea in the morning, I’ll take a cup once in the office.

I always make sure to sit down in peace to eat, and I don’t get up until I’m totally finished with my food. If I have anything in my mouth, I’ll sit down until I’m done. I think this is very important, because eating and being stressed is never good. Take your time and you’ll feel much better! After eating, I go and freshen up. Sometimes, if I got time, I’ll take a shower. Otherwise I’ll just get my hair done, perhaps put just a little make up on, and brush my teeth. It’s very much depending on how much time I have, but I always brush my teeth and make sure my hair looks kind of good.

After this, I get dressed and go off to work. I live close to my work so it doesn’t take very long time to get there. Also, taking a walk or riding the bike in the morning is really nice. I wake up even more, and I get some fresh air. Much better than sitting in a small car or in a crowded bus. Basically, my morning is about waking up very carefully, and making sure I’m ready for the day. I like my morning routine, and I don’t think it takes too much time either. If you have any tips or recommendations to what I can do better, or any tips really – please contact me! Until nest time, take care!

My morning cup of tea!

Top five favourite foods!

Hi again! Hope you like what I’ve been writing so far! I figured I could share with you that kinds of foods I like, and what I think about them. As I said before, I’m not vegan and I eat both meat and dairy, but I trie to eat less and less of it. I try to go to a more clean and vegan diet, but I still think it can be good to eat at least fish and some kind of meat sometimes. And it’s actually very tasty, if I might say that. However, I’ve listed a few things that I eat a lot, and quickly explain why I think it’s good for you.

Avocado with som salt and pepper - really tasty!Avocado – first of all it’s really tasty! I love taking a perfect fresh and ripe avocado, split it in half and sprinkle just a little bit of salt and pepper on it. I can eat this for brakfast, lunch, dinner and in between them all! Sometimes I take a piece of toast or hard bread, avocado and a tomato, with som salt and pepper for breakfast. Sometimes I do that as a lighter lunch or as a filling meal in between. I also like to use it in home made guacamole, because it’s really fresh and creamy. I definitely recommend!

Oats – oat meal is my go-to breakfast every day. This together with some frozen berries and almond milk makes a great start. With this I’m full of energy for the rest of the day and mu lunch is often something light like a chicken salad. Also, it’s really nice to get some warm food in your belly in the morning!

Eggs – again, I’m not vegan. Although, the egg industri is extremely bad and I feel sorry for all the poor chickens that are treated badly. I don’t want to support this industry, so that’s why I’m very conscious about what eggs I buy. That’s why I always make sure it’s from hens that are free to go around, either outside or inside. When it come to food, I think eggs are great. I often have a few boiled in the fridge, so I can take one if I need something extra. I also make omelettes and have it in other meals, to make it more filling and nutritious.

Chia seeds – I’m not really sure of however it is seen as super food or not anymore. However, I sometimes take a pinch of chia seeds and put it in my home made bread. Sometimes I sprinkle it in my water together with a piece of cucumbers to spice up my water a little.

– I love lime! I use it a lot in my cooking to give som freshness to the meal, as well as in my water to spice it up. I drink a lot of water and though it’s very good just as it is, I like to vary the taste a little bit. Actually I’m not a big fan of lemons, I prefer lime almost every time. Also, having a bit of lime zest in cupcakes or even bread gives it a completely different sensation!

Lime is useful in many ways!

I find these foods very useful and I believe it’s at least a little bit healthy. I’ve been eating this for about three years now and I feel really good, both inside and outside. It’s easy for me to buy this at where I live, but I understand it can be a bit hard to find all of it all over the world. However, I’m sure you can find at least one of them, and I can really recommend to try at least one of them in some kind of meal. Good luck and hope you like it!

Walking made fun – makes you feel healthy

We all know that exercise is important for our health, but despite that very few actually go out. Personally, I think it might be because it’s sometimes boring. At least I think it’s boring sometimes. I’ve been taking at least one hour walks every day for the last six months, no matter what the weather. It’s sometimes horrible when it’s stormy and rainy, but it’s also wonderful to see the changes of the weather.

I started when I got the tips from a colleague who also have been walking every day. I was talking a bit to her and I got curious. She said it had changed her well-being a lot, to the positive. After our conversation I figured I could try it for a week, just a 30 minute walk every night after work. I made sure to get my comfortable shoes and packed an apple in my bag, so I could easily take an extra route on the way home.

Also, I made sure to have my headset with me, and after work I started may favourite playlist and started walking. The night before, I had already decided what way I’d go. I started walking in a slow tempo, because I was not that into a workout. I figured I’d just take it easy and not get all sweaty, since it’s not a workout.

When I got home, I was not tired at all. It was really nice to get some fresh air and move a little bit. I fell asleep very well that night, and the morning after I felt more rested than usual. The next day I did the same thing, and it already felt very much easier. Since then, I’ve been taking longer and longer walks every day. Usually my walks get up to one hour and I vary my route from time to time.

I love walking in the forest as well

I really feel better and I think it makes a huge difference for me as well. I sleep better at night, I eat more healthy and I have a lot mor energy in daytime. Taking the stairs is also much easier and I drink more water. I also feel more healthy and I haven’t been struck that hard from the common colds that my colleagues have had.

Taking daily walks really have improved my health, and I have no intention on quitting. In six months, I might have cheated once or twice, once when I was away on a longer journey and once when I felt too sick to go out. Even when I felt a bit sick I went on a walk, but just a very short one. It actually helped, together with tea, lots of water and a bit of rest. I think the fresh air helped a lot also and as I started to feel better I also began walking a bit more. The last months I’ve not  had a single cold, although my colleagues have hade some.

To sum it all up, I can really recommend taking walks, even if it’s just very short walks. It will make you feel better, feel more healthy and you will have a lot more energy. Get a pair of nice walking shoes, good playlist and enjoy the view. Even if it’s just a ten minute walk, it’s a hundred times better than not going out. Good luck!

Chickensalad – one of my favorites

One thing that bothers me a lot is how much food that goes to waste every year. People just throw out their leftovers or half empty food packaging. A soft banana goes right in the trash. There is so much we could spare.

Saving tip
  • Soft fruit – slice them up, put them in the fridge and use them for smoothies. If you have some soft banans you can also make a delicious banana cake .
  • A small piece of cheese: grate the cheese and use it on a potato gratin (can be frozen as well).
  • Old bread – slice it up and turn the breadcrumbs in some olive oil, salt and herbs and fry them in a pan. Voilá croutons!
  • A few boiled potatoes left since yesterdays dinner – make some mashed potatoes and add whatever piece of meat you have and make a lunchbox to put in the fridge.use your leftovers

All in – when I have a little bit of everything in the fridge I usually make what I call an “all in”. I chop everything up and put it in either a frying pan or in the oven. It often turns out very good 🙂

Please comment if you have a great saving tip so that we don´t have to waste so much food 🙂
I would like to sum up with a recipe of my favorite food – chicken salad! It could be made on a hundred different ways. So I´ll just let you know how I think when I´m cooking.

RecipeMy favourite lunch
  1. The main ingredient – the chicken! I make my own marinade the night before so that the flavors can soak in. I want the chicken to taste a lot.
  2. Something a bit strong – I want something that stand out without taking over the dish. Ruccola is the perfect candidate for that.
  3. Something crunchy – I need some chewing resistance. so I add some seeds. My favorite is pumpkin seeds.
  4. Something cheesy – the finishing touch: some salad cheese.
  5. Something salty – if it’s one of those days when I allow my self to eat a bit extra meat, I´ll add some bacon.
  6. Something fresh – watermelon and pomegranate are my to favorites to freshen up the dish with.

Detox water

My heart beats 4 water

Tastefull and refreshing detox waterToday I would like to talk about water. I honestly think that water is the best thing you can treat your body with. My friends drink a lot of sodas and they think that water is tasteless and boring. But it does not have to be. When I want something extra tasty to drink I just make a bottle of Detox water. It tastes great and it looks beautiful. Call me silly, but for me, the presentation is just as important as the content

Make it look tasteful

I often use bottles or cans made of glass with a metal lid on it. Just fill them with beautiful leaves of mint and various pieces of citrus fruits, slices of cucumber and a few colorful berries. My favorite combination is mint, lime and raspberries. No sickly sweet soda can compere to this quencher.

Let your bottle stand in the refrigerator for an hour or two before you drink the water. By that time the flavors will taste great and the stare vill be refreshingly cold. Put a straw in the can and enjoy.

Did you know that:

  • A grown up human body contains about 70 % water.
  • About 70-75% of the earth surface is covered with water.
  • The weight you loose directly after a workout is the loss of water, not fat.
  • Pure water has a neutral PH of 7.
  • By the time you feel thirsty, you have lost 1% of your total water amount.
  • A healthy person can drink about 3 gallons of water a day.
  • You can get water intoxication if you drink to much water.

Source reference.

Have a nice day everyone. I really do hope that you give water a chance. Not just for the taste, for your health.. and teeth. Say goodbye to the sodas, at least to a few of them 😉
